Limited Magnitude Error Detecting Codes for Flash Memories




Abstract: : The error detecting problem for limited magnitude errors over high radix channels is studied. In this error model, the error magnitude does not exceed a certain limited value and it is known beforehand. For asymmetric, unidirectional and symmetric channels, both all and $t$ error detecting codes are studied. In all these cases, close-to-optimal codes are proposed.

Bio: Bella Bose has been with Oregon State University since 1980, where he is a professor and the associate director of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. His current research interests include error control codes, fault-tolerant computing, parallel processing, and computer networks. He is a fellow of both the ACM and IEEE.
